Join us for the first NHLA Twilight Meeting of 2019! We have a very interesting program for you.

The meeting will be held at The Stone Trust’s Mont Vernon, NH training site. Hosts Pete Ryder and Brian Post will provide an overview of The Stone Trust offerings and certification program. Be sure to take advantage of this opportunity to learn more about a fascinating and traditional New England art. Light refreshments will be provided at the Twilight Meeting, and a tent is set up onsite in case of rain.

The Stone Trust is a 501(c)3 non-profit dedicated to preserving and advancing the art and craft of dry stone walling (www.thestonetrust.org). The Trust fulfills this mission primarily through training and certification programs. In 2018 more than 500 people took workshops and more than 80 tested for certification at various levels.  Pete is the board president of The Stone Trust, a certified instructor, and a professional waller in New Boston, NH. Brian is the executive director, a master craftsman, the lead instructor for The Trust, and a professional waller in Springfield, VT.

Typical Stone Trust introductory workshop attendance is 75% homeowners and 25% professionals. More advanced workshops include more hardscape professionals. In a one-day introduction workshop, attendees are introduced to the fundamentals and put them into practice by taking down and rebuilding an existing wall. Instruction is provided by some of the best professional wallers in New England, teaching a well established curriculum derived from the Dry Stone Walling Association of Great Britain.

The headquarters and primary training center for The Stone Trust is in Dummerston, VT. In 2018, The Trust opened its training center in Mont Vernon, NH, to better serve eastern New England. 2018 workshops held in Mont Vernon included one-Day Introductory classes, Stone Shaping, Site Preparation, and a Stone Arch Bridge workshop.
