This is your opportunity to learn how to care for several varieties of highbush blueberries, either as production plants or ornamentals in the landscape.
Fairhaven Farm is a 50-year-old highbush blueberry farm with 500 bushes and seven varieties ranging in age from 10 to 50 years. Under new ownership this year, the enthusiastic hosts will join us to learn about maintaining these fields.
Participants will learn the basics of pruning highbush berries and will have ample hands-on experience. Also learn about identifying and controlling pathogens, including mummy berry and witches’ broom.
Workshop attendees also are welcome to continue supervised pruning during the afternoon of the workshop to practice new skills.
Dress warmly and be prepared for snow in the fields. Please bring your own sharpest bypass pruners and loppers.
Instructor: Jeremy Delisle, UNH Cooperative Extension small fruit specialist
